Pettigrew & Stephens Sale, 1933

Ladies' underwear illustrated in a sale catalogue issued by Pettigrew & Stephens in January 1933.

In the 1930s underclothes were often cut on the same pattern as the dress so that no undesirable seams would show through the tight fitting bodice. This meant that the ultra-fashionable lady would require a set of underwear for each dress. The nightdress was part of the same set.
