Wallace & Weir Overcoat

The "Hampden" overcoat, illustrated in the Walwer styles overcoats catalogue for the winter of 1939-1940 issued by Wallace & Weir, 26 Argyle Street, manufacturers of men's and boy's clothing.

The choice of name would be inspired by Hampden Park, Scotland's national football stadium. In 1937 the Scotland v England international match was played there before a crowd of 149,415 spectators, the highest official attendance for a football match ever recorded in Britain.
