Cartoon

Cartoon by "M" in Glasgow University Magazine, 1 February 1933. Another example of the humorous cartoons which were a regular feature of the magazine, it depicts the rigorous preparation which a young woman must carry out in order to look effortlessly attractive and desirable!

The cartoons and illustrations in GUM dealt with a wide range of subject matter, from University to national politics; students' social life to the popular fads of the day. Illustrious contributors included Charles Oakley, Ian Phillips, and O H Mavor, the latter better known as author James Bridie and whose cartoons and writings were particularly enjoyed by readers of the early 20th century.
