Spindrift

A model of the tea clipper Spindrift, built in 1867 by Charles Connell & Co of Scotstoun for James Findlay & Co of Greenock. The Spindrift carried cargoes of tea to London from Shanghai and Foochow in China. Speed was highly prized in a tea clipper and she was nicknamed "Giblet Pie" because she was "all wings and legs". Her career was cut short in 1869 when she was wrecked off Dungeness.

This 1:48 scale model is in the Museum of Transport.
