Mrs Flett the Senior Infant Teacher is standing to the right of the photograph. Gorbals Public School had a large percentage of Jewish pupils in the earlier part of the 20th century and many of the children shown here were Jewish. For several years classes were cancelled on Jewish religious holidays and the school closed early for the Sabbath during the winter.
