St James Terrace, Kinning Park, probably late 19th century. Some of the women and children who lived in the houses stand in the foreground. Graffiti adorns the nearby fence.
The caption accompanying this photograph states that it depicts St James Terrace. It may however be St James Street, which was later renamed Seaward Street. When this photograph was taken, this row of tenements contained three dwellings of three apartments and twenty-four dwellings of one apartment. There were also two wash-houses containing twenty-nine taps and eight water closets.
