Glasgow Science Centre

A Clyde Waterbus passing the Glasgow Science Centre on its way back to the city centre.

Clyde Waterbus Services began in 2001. Their waterbus Pride o' the Clyde previously operated in the Netherlands but now sails between the city centre and the shopping centre at Braehead near Renfrew. The journey takes half an hour each way, with the waterbus departing from the King George V bridge at the foot of Jamaica Street and passing Glasgow attractions such as the Armadillo, the Tall Ship and the Glasgow Science Centre (shown here).

The Glasgow Science Centre opened in 2001 and is housed in three contemporary buildings on the site once occupied by Prince's Dock. The Glasgow Tower (right) is over 400 feet high and is the only tower in the world capable of revolving through 360 degrees from the ground up. Next to the tower is the Science Mall which contains hundreds of interactive exhibits which bring science and technology to life. The third building, not shown here, is the IMAX® Theatre, the first to be built in Scotland.
