Empire Exhibition

The West Indies section of the Colonial Pavilion at the Empire Exhibition, 1938. The partly obscured title of one of the stands is "The St. Vincent Co-operative Arrowroot Association" which produced a kitchen display of arrowroot with advice and demonstrations on its use in the making of soups, cakes, blancmanges etc. Jamaica was also represented in this section.

Malaya occupied another large area of the Colonial Pavilion. Its exhibit had been on display in Kuala Lumpur before setting off for Glasgow and claimed to present a "complete cross-section of life in the Malay Peninsula", with emphasis on the rubber and pineapple industries and local arts and crafts.

The remainder of the Pavilion was taken up by a composite display of the wares of smaller colonies and dependencies, ranging from Malta to Bechuanaland and the Falkland Islands to Hong Kong.
