Bellahouston Housing

Corporation houses in Moness Drive, Bellahouston. The Corporation's Housing Department described the Bellahouston scheme when it was under construction in 1937 as "a very handsome range of tenements, with a few four-in-the-block flatted, terrace, and also cottage types of houses having stone fronts and gables."

Situated between Paisley Road West and Mosspark Boulevard, to the west of Bellahouston Park, the Bellahouston scheme was built entirely by direct labour. Glasgow Corporation's Direct Labour Organisation was said to be the biggest undertaking of its kind in the British Isles, and was organised on the lines of a major building and civil engineering contracting concern. It covered all phases of building operations, with its own plant, workshops, stores, factory and other facilities.
