"Fit in Sport in 93"

Employees from various Glasgow sports facilities gathered at Bellahouston Sports Centre at the beginning of 1993 for the launch of the "Fit in Sport in 93" campaign, pictured in Glasgow City Council's newspaper The Bulletin. The campaign offered a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities.

Set in Bellahouston Park in the south-west of Glasgow, Bellahouston Sports Centre was regarded as a prototype for subsequent multi-purpose indoor sports centres when it opened in 1968. The centre provided facilities for every major indoor sport. Further upgrades included a £1.5 million outdoor hockey pitch in 1999.

The centre re-opened as Bellahouston Leisure Centre in April 2001 following a major refurbishment. The new facilities included swimming pools and a health suite, sports hall, dance studio, function room, fitness suite, gymnastics centre, creche and cafeteria.
