Argyle Street from the south, c 1794, based on an illustration published in Views and Notices of Glasgow in Former Times (1847). To the left of the view are a malt kiln and barn, flanked by two single storey buildings one of which, to the east, is a farmhouse. It is set back slightly from the road and this recess is said to have been used for milking cows.
In the centre of this view is the foot of what was called Cow Loan and which is known today as Queen Street. Queen Street was named for Queen Charlotte (1744-1818), the wife of George III.
