Glasgow City Chambers

The Lord Provost's Room in Glasgow City Chambers, 1888. The room is situated at the corner of the building where George Square and Cochrane Street meet. Arches thrown across the corners at ceiling height are not only decorative but support the octagonal form of the building's corner dome, which is above this room.

The walls of the Lord Provost's Room were decorated with a Tynecastle tapestry and a Romanesque scroll frieze which ran round the edge of the ceiling.
