An advertisement from the Post Office Glasgow directory of 1859-1860 for another of John Condie's large patent steam hammers which were built at the Govan Bar Iron Works in the Gorbals. The shafts of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's famous Great Eastern steam ship had been forged a few years earlier by Condie steam hammers.
