Consumer product advertising invariably responds to and reflects changes in society, and it is interesting that it is a woman who is depicted behind the wheel of this expensive car. Glasgow's middle class women enjoyed greater social freedoms after the First World War, and many were unafraid to display the trappings of increased financial independence.
