Nap time at Percy Street Special School in Wyndford, 1916. Percy Street was what was known as an open-air school, with classrooms (such as those on the right of the photograph) which opened by sliding or folding doors to a verandah or central courtyard.
This school provided accomodation for children with special educational needs from the western districts of the city. Special needs pupils from the East End attended Kennyhill Special School in Haghill.
Percy Street was subsequently renamed Hotspur Street and the school was renamed Kelbourne School.
