Pollockshaw Heroes

"Pollockshaw Heroes", a song preserved in a scrapbook entitled Old Glasgow Street Songs etc, 1850 which is held at the Mitchell Library.

Charles Divine's song is about the Pollokshaws Orange Lodge and celebrates the victories of King William III and the Orange traditions upheld by the lodge members and office-holders. "And we in the bright sun of July/Our colours will bear up in view" refers to the summer marching season. The publisher intimates that songs with an orange theme are popular with his customers.
