Glasgow Courtship

"Glasgow Courtship", a song preserved in a scrapbook entitled Old Glasgow Street Songs etc, 1850 which is held at the Mitchell Library.

The publisher states that the song had become a popular number in the repertoire of Charles Watson, a comic singer who appeared on the bill at the Shakspear singing saloon. The song describes the courting rituals of "modern" young men and women, and gently mocks them for being less modest than in former times. "They're all courting in Glasgow town..."
