A Thomas Annan photograph of a portrait of the Very Reverend William Taylor (1744-1823). The painting was by Sir Henry Raeburn.
Taylor was Minister of Glasgow Cathedral from 1780 until his death in 1823 and Principal of the University of Glasgow from 1803 until 1823. Respected as an active supporter of various charitable causes, he was elected an Honourary Burgess of the city.
