Sporting celebrities Gary Jacobs, Alison Sheppard, Ian Ferguson and Ally McCoist, pictured for the November 1992 issue of Glasgow City Council's newspaper The Bulletin at the launch of Glasport '92 at Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena. The event was organised by the Sports Council for Glasgow, aiming to encourage people of all ages and abilities to try a new sport.

Boxer Gary Jacobs was Glasgow Sports Personality of the Year for 1994. In a 15-year career he fought twenty-eight title bouts and was Scottish, British, Commonwealth and European welterweight champion.

Swimmer Alison Sheppard's successes include gold medals for the 50-metres freestyle event at the British Championships in 2000, and at the Commonwealth Games in 2002. She has represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games on four occasions.

Ian Ferguson made 205 league appearances for Rangers between 1988 and 2000, scoring twenty-two goals. He won nine caps for Scotland. His Rangers team-mate Ally McCoist was the greatest goalscorer in the club's history with 250 league goals between 1983 and 1998.
