Hunterian mummy

This coloured cartoon appears on the front page of the first issue of the Glasgow Looking Glass, 11 June 1825. It depicts an Egyptian sarcophagus in the Hunterian Museum and a view of the mummy it contained, unbound to reveal the head and neck.

The University of Glasgow's Hunterian Museum opened in 1807 and is Scotland's oldest public museum.
