Advertisements for the Glasgow firms J & F Bell and T & R Annan & Sons in Glasgow University Magazine 18 November 1896.
J & F Bell produced the popular "Three Bells" and "Three Nuns" brands of cigarettes for the domestic market. In 1904, it merged with the larger Glasgow-based tobacco firm, Stephen Mitchell & Son.
The photographers T & R Annan & Sons was founded by Thomas Annan in 1855. By 1857, he had established the business at premises in Sauchiehall Street.
