Caricature by "JCS" of Tom Honeyman, promoter of the arts and the University's Rector, 1953-1956, in Glasgow University Magazine, November 1953.

T J Honeyman graduated with a medical degree from the University of Glasgow. He served as a doctor in the army during the Second World War and practised medicine until 1929, when he become an art dealer.

He was director of the Glasgow Museums and Art Galleries 1939-1954, and organised some highly successful exhibitions. He was a founder and first chairman of the Citizens Theatre and persuaded the shipping magnate, Sir William Burrell to bequeath his huge art collection to the city. He was also responsible for the purchase of Savador Dali's work Christ of St John of the Cross along with the right to reproduce it, which has since proved hugely valuable. He was awarded the St Mungo Prize for his work in the arts.
