Hillhead and the University of Glasgow, 1966.
The picture shows the houses of Hillhead, and the western part of the University of Glasgow campus. At the bottom of the picture are Kelvingrove Park (on the right) and the Glasgow Western Infirmary (left). In the centre immediately above the park are the West Medical Building and the Davidson Building, with the Zoology Building, Kelvin Building, Joseph Black Building and the Bower Building behind them. Professors' Square and part of the Gilbert Scott Building are on the far right.
Construction of new University buildings in Hillhead can be seen in the middle distance. On the right, work is progressing on the new University Library and the Adam Smith Building. To the left, ground is being cleared for the Queen Margaret Union and the Mathematics and the Boyd Orr buildings. The trees in the Botanic Gardens and lining the River Kelvin to the north-west are in the far distance, with the tenements of North Kelvinside and Wyndford beyond.
