Glasgow Corporation Transport sports day.
The Transport Department encouraged its employees to get involved in a wide range of social activities. It organised annual championships for sports such as football, golf, swimming and bowls. There was also a Championship Shield presented to the section which gained the most points at the annual athletics competition.
This image shows a trophy being presented at a sports day at Helenvale Recreation Ground (now Helenvale Park) in Parkhead in the late 1920s or early 1930s. Lachlan MacKinnon, the General Manager, is in the background.
