Umbria

A model of the Umbria built at John Elder & Co's Fairfield Shipyard in 1884 for the Cunard Line. Her maiden voyage was on 1 November 1884, from Liverpool to New York, and in 1887 she took a Blue Riband for completing the crossing to America with a speed of 19.22 knots.

Umbria served as an armed merchant cruiser in 1885 and as a troop carrier in 1900-1901 during the Boer War. She was scrapped in 1910.

This 1:48 scale model is part of the Museum of Transport collection.
