Inspectors for Jamaica

Inspectors bound for Jamaica.

The Glasgow tramway system was one of the best in the world, and members of staff were often sent abroad for spells of a few months or years to provide advice on the running and management of tramway systems. In March 1921 these five inspectors were sent to Kingston, Jamaica. In the back row from the left are Mr Robertson from Govan depot and Mr Paxton from Maryhill depot; and seated are, from the left, Mr Neilson from Maryhill depot, Mr Bowie from Newlands depot, and Mr Purnell from Govan depot.

Staff from other municipal services such as the Fire Brigade were also seconded overseas.
