The Fairfield Fleet

The Fairfield Fleet by Arthur W Burgess, 1907.

This oil painting shows all the warships built or engined by the Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co between 1870 and 1907. The largest ship in the painting is HMS Bellerophon, a battleship with a displacement of 18,600 tons which was launched at Portsmouth Dockyard in 1907 and fitted with engines by the Govan firm. She was commissioned in 1909 and saw action at the Battle of Jutland in 1916.
