Price list

A price list for Gennaro D'Ambrosio's provisions business in London Street (now London Road).

Gennaro D'Ambrosio sold food and drink imported from Italy. This price list offers an amazing range of cheeses, salamis, olive oils, wines and spirits, cigarettes, over fifty types of pasta, and much more besides. The company also sold British goods such as biscuits and confectionery.

There was an influx of Italian immigrants to Scottish towns and cities in the 19th century. Scottish Italians had a major impact on their adopted country, not least in influencing its eating habits. By the late 19th century, shopkeepers dealing in speciality foods and drinks such as those sold by D'Ambrosio were commonly known as "Italian warehousemen".
