A house at Dean Place in the Rottenrow where Thomas de Quincey (1785-1859) lived from 1841 until 1843. de Quincey was an English writer best known for his reckless lifestyle and as the author of Confessions of an English Opium Eater. He moved to Edinburgh in 1826, but lived in Glasgow between 1841 and 1843 while hiding from his creditors.
