Armour on display at the Burrell Collection.

The European arms and armour collected by Sir William Burrell date from the 13th to the 17th century and are generally of high quality. As well as armour the collection contains weapons such as swords, maces, halberds, partisans, glaives, spears and spadroons, many of which were carried by the personal guards of princes and monarchs.

Sir William also collected historic architectural features such as stone archways and windows and many of these have been built into the fabric of the galleries. Seen here (to the right) is a 15th or early 16th century French window made of limestone.
