A watercolour entitled On the outskirts of Glasgow with the Cathedral beyond painted by an unknown artist c 1840.
The view is from the high ground to the south of the Cathedral, on the western edge of the Fir Park. Some small boys are playing with a dog in the foreground, while the adults cluster round a passing horse and cart for a gossip.
