A page from the 1697 Stent Roll.
The central column of the page records the names of citizens who were due to pay the stent rates and the amounts they owed. On the left is the amount of land held by each person measured in acres and roods and on the right the amounts due in figures.
The appointed stentmasters responsible for compiling the rolls for this particular year were John Penman and George Lauder.
