Harland & Wolff's Govan Shipyard

Aerial view of Harland & Wolff's Govan Shipyard, late 1930s.

The yard was built on the site of the Govan Old, Govan New and Middleton Shipyards in before the First World War, and was one of the largest, most modern and efficient on the Clyde. The firm built a new fitting-out basin (bottom left), seven building berths and two ranges of workshops, one on Govan Road and the other on the west side of the ferry slip at Water Row.
